Lynch Mob Inglewood Concert reviews
Still fun after all these years!
The show was still cute and having fun. Most of the set list was good, so no major complaints. They're more r&b and soulful. George is a better front man than say Simon LeBon, he engages the audience more and tries to have fun. The only major dud was a hit for the Power Station in the late eighties, the final song of the night, a cover song called Bang A Gong. It just came out of nowhere and was a strange choice. I like the song but it's not a song they're known for and the song is more sixties/seventies rock/pop which is not how I think of Lynch Mob. They used it as the final song where they introduce the band, including the nine additional touring members so it went on way too long. To make it worse, the second was that it's a T-Rex song. The first problem was that. If they had rearranged it to sound like a Lynch Mob song then I would have comprehended it a bit better but it seemed strange to me to perform a song that was a hit for a different eighties band. The Arlington is a nice little place to see a show. The seats should probably be modernized though. Even if you don't have the best seat it's still worth it. The last time I was here I saw the Smiths. The arm rests don't raise up and I noticed that some of my fellow concert goers were no longer the skinny kids they were back in the eighties so fattening in to the old fashioned seats could be a problem. A cute little trio called Groves from LA opened for Lynch Mob. They seemed a bit disappointed that the audience wasn't getting in to it a bit more but then what should they have expected? Everyone in the audience was about two and a half times their age! They have a facebook page with a couple of videos. Terrible band name but they were really good. They were sort of like alternative pop almost bordering on emo a bit. I liked them and will definitely check once in a while to see if they post new music.
